Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the pinnacle of digitalization; AI is revolutionizing how we work and live. We now have more data than ever about our business processes, and Deep Learning, in particular, gives us the tools to create real value from our data. With AI, we can improve our processes' efficiency; we can improve quality or do completely new things by creating new business models. With AI, computers can understand audio and text in natural language, allowing them to create new user experiences. In this Lecture, we will present the work we are doing at Fraunhofer IAIS – Dresden Lab for the creation of Cognitive Conversational Agents based on Knowledge Graphs. The technology we are creating (comparable to large companies such as Google or Amazon) allows fast and efficient access to information through voice or text input. The results are complete solutions that comply with data protection and are adapted to users' particular needs in various fields of application, for example, in education, medicine, production, and tourism. We use modern artificial intelligence technologies that combine deep learning and knowledge representation. This approach's unique feature is that knowledge graphs are the heart of our conversational agents, which combine the knowledge generated from complex data sets with the domain-specific expertise of experts and make the system suitable for complex queries. This concept of "hybrid machine learning" allows us to adapt the dialog systems to a precise technical vocabulary and various application areas' requirements.
