On 4th September 2020, the University of Oxford co-organized the workshop ‘Knowledge Representation & Representation Learning (KR4L)’ together with the University of Bonn and Fraunhofer IAIS, see also call for papers. It was held in conjunction with the 24th European Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ECAI 2020).
The workshop had two senior committee members:
- Georg Gottlob, Computer Science Department, Information System, University of Oxford and TU Wien
- Jens Lehmann, Fraunhofer IAIS, Germany, and Smart Data Analytics (SDA), Computer Science Institute at the University of Bonn, Germany
And the chairs were:
- Emanuel Sallinger, Computer Science Department, Information System, University of Oxford and TU Wien
- Sahar Vahdati, Computer Science Department, Information System, University of Oxford
- Mojtaba Nayyeri, Smart Data Analytics (SDA), Computer Science Institute at the University of Bonn, Germany
- Lianlong Wu, Computer Science Department, Information System, University of Oxford
The workshop covered the topics related to Big Data, AI, Reasoning, Knowledge Graphs and many more. Overall 6 full papers including one vision paper have been accepted and presented for a great audience of 40 different researchers joining all over the world. There were two follow up contacts for joint collaborations after the workshop presentations.
Prof. Emanuel Sallinger gave an opening keynote. and the program followed with paper presentations. The workshop had the honorary participation of Dr. Luigi Bellomarini from Banca d'Italia in two of the panel discussions.
The two panel discussions covered two major topics:
- Emerging Topics in Academia and Industry
- Future Directions - Looking Ahead
The proceedings will be published in CEUR-WS and will be made open access.
Overall, the LAMBDA consortium has this successful workshop which with respect to COVID-19 restrictions went as an online event. This has been a starting point and the follow-up KR4L will sustain aligned with LAMBDA objective.
